On Saturday, November 4, 2017, the Mid-Atlantic Association of Professional Process Servers ("MAAPPS") held its annual meeting and election at family owned and operated establishment, Gentleman Jim’s in Gaithersburg, Maryland. This year’s theme was “Honoring the Past, Treasuring the Present, Shaping the Future”. Additionally, we are pleased to announce that this month also commemorates our seventh year as an organization.

Several members were in attendance, while multiple guests were welcomed and greeted in the privately reserved lounge. The atmosphere was quite delightful as everyone feasted upon gourmet pizza and assorted soft drinks, which was partially funded by a donation from MAAPPS. There were many familiar faces along with new members and first-time visitors too! As MAAPPS continues to extend networks and opportunities for its members in collaboration with other industry bodies, we also hosted exclusive guest speakers from Lincoln Heritage Life Insurance Company, Rapid Process Serving, and The Law Offices of RA Wood. This occasion also achieved election of the newly appointed 2018 Officers and Board of Directors as follows:

Western Maryland Next to Launch MDEC

Beginning in October 2017, Allegany, Garrett, Frederick, and Washington counties will become the latest jurisdictions to offer Maryland Electronic Courts (MDEC). With the implementation of MDEC on Monday, October 16, 2017, attorneys filing in District and Circuit courts in these jurisdictions, as well as appellate filings originating in these jurisdictions, will be required to file electronically. This applies to all attorneys in Maryland who practice law in Western Maryland.

The launch in Western Maryland follows the successful implementation of electronic filing in Southern Maryland, on the Eastern Shore, and in Anne Arundel County. MDEC is currently operational in Anne Arundel, Calvert, Caroline, Cecil, Charles, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne’s, Somerset, St. Mary’s, Talbot, Wicomico, and Worcester counties. The Judiciary is on pace to achieve the goal to bring MDEC to every court by 2021.

Happy New Year 2017

Happy New Year!  As we close out 2016 and as 2017 begins to dawn, it seems like a great time to reflect on what we’ve accomplished, the journey we’ve taken to get to where we are and the plans we have for an exciting, bright future.

I’d like to start by telling you how much I appreciate each member of the Kaundre team and that I recognize we wouldn’t be where we are without the contributions made by each and every one of our associates.  Thank you.
